What We Do

At JUST.BATHE, we are dedicated to supporting families enduring the heart-wrenching experience of losing a child. Our mission is to provide comfort and compassion during their most vulnerable moments. We do this by offering specially designed bathing packs to hospitals, which enable parents to lovingly bathe and care for their child one last time. These packs are thoughtfully curated to ensure that parents can create a peaceful and meaningful farewell, fostering a sense of connection and honouring the bond they share. Through this simple yet profound act of care, we hope to bring solace to grieving families, helping them navigate an unimaginable loss .

Compassionate Support for Families

Mission:
At JUST.BATHE, our mission is to bring compassion, dignity, and support to parents facing the unimaginable heartbreak of losing a child. Founded by Dr. Steph Alger after the tragic loss of her own child, we are dedicated to providing essential bathing packs to hospitals, ensuring that parents have the resources to share tender, meaningful moments with their child in their final hours. Through our work, we aim to ease a small part of their pain by enabling acts of love, care, and connection when words cannot suffice.

Vision:
We envision a world where no parent faces the loss of a child without the resources and support they need to honour their child's life with dignity and love. JUST.BATHE are dedicated to ensuring parents can create cherished final moments amidst their grief.

Our Mission and Vision
Our Story

JUST.BATHE was founded by Dr. Steph Alger, a mother and who experienced the devastating loss of her son in a tragic car accident. In the midst of her grief, Dr. Steph recognised the profound and instinctive importance of small, meaningful acts of care during the final moments with her child.

Inspired by her personal journey, Dr. Steph created JUST.BATHE to ensure that no parent facing such unimaginable loss would be without the resources to do the same. Our charity provides thoughtfully designed bathing packs to hospitals, giving parents the tools to ‘bathe’ their child creating a meaningful goodbye.

Through JUST.BATHE her son’s legacy lives on.

The JUST.BATHE Box

The JUST.BATHE box is a thoughtfully curated pack designed to provide grieving parents with the essentials needed to bathe and care for their child one last time. Each box is crafted with compassion, offering items that bring comfort, dignity, and peace during a family’s most difficult moments.

Our JUST.BATHE Box & Olive Wood Bowl

We have put a great deal of thought into the contents of every JUST.BATHE box, ensuring each item provides care, comfort, and dignity during an incredibly difficult time. Items included are:

  • Bamboo wide-tooth comb

  • Compressed sponges

  • Muslin cloths

  • Nail file

  • Cotton buds

  • Cotton pads

  • Pack of tissues

  • Body wash/shampoo

  • Body lotion

  • Soap bar

  • Handcrafted olive wood bowl

At the heart of each box is the olive wood bowl, one of its most meaningful features. JUST.BATHE now works directly with a company that manufactures and imports olive wood products, allowing us to source high-quality bowls at a reduced cost. Each bowl is handcrafted in Tunisia by skilled artisans using sustainably sourced olive wood from the trunks of very old trees that no longer bear fruit—wood that would otherwise go to waste. This ensures both sustainability and authenticity, while also supporting traditional craftsmanship.

The natural grain of olive wood makes every bowl completely unique. We believe this reflects the individuality of every child and the unique love of every parent. It is our hope that families will take this bowl home and, in time, find a special place for it as a lasting keepsake.

The box itself has been carefully designed to be sturdy and slightly larger than required, so it can be kept and used to store precious memories such as locks of hair or handprints. Leaving hospital without a child is something no parent should ever have to face, and we hope this box offers a more dignified and thoughtful way to leave, even providing a small sense of comfort.

As JUST.BATHE boxes become more widely recognised within hospital settings, we also hope they help staff identify grieving families and offer additional support when needed. We continue to welcome feedback to improve the contents and ensure each box remains as meaningful and useful as possible. Currently, each box costs around £15 to assemble, and as the charity grows, we aim to secure better pricing while never compromising on the quality and care each box represents.

We Listen To You - Hair Accessories

It was brought to our attention through feedback from nurses and hospital teams—particularly on critical care wards—that small items like hair accessories and bands can make a real difference to patient comfort.

At JUST.BATHE, we take that feedback seriously. That’s why we now include a selection of hair bands and accessories in a pack - because we listen, and we adapt to what truly matters.

Our Team

At JUST.BATHE, our dedicated team is the heart of our mission.
